Before taking Nexium and Prilosec, tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Ask your doctor about taking this drug if you are breastfeeding. It is not known if Nexium and Prilosec can pass through the body and cause dangerous drug interactions. Esomeprazole or omeprazole proton pump inhibitors can also interact with other medications, causing serious drug side effects or requiring a lower dose. Esomeprazole or omeprazole proton pump inhibitors may affect the way that you think your body is working. Do not change the doses of medications you are taking without instructions from your doctor's information.

Take this drug by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole. Avoid taking more than 2 weeks without using more than 1 dose of this drug.

Nexium may take from 3 to 6 weeks before you start feeling full. If you have taken Nexium for more than 6 weeks, you should wait at least 2 weeks before you start using Nexium. Do not use for more than 3 weeks without using more than 1 dose of Nexium.

Nexium may cause fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, decreased appetite, stomach pain, stomach or bowel movements, headache, dizziness, and blurred vision. If you notice any of these symptoms, talk to your doctor immediately.

Nexium may cause increased heart rate and sweating (excited, shpastful, shaky, or tense emotional heartbeat) when you are stressed, anxious, or annoyed. If you are having trouble sleeping, rest and call your doctor immediately. If you are having vision problems, talk to your doctor.
